Kirilyn and Jack chose the stunning Rex Smeal park as the setting for their wedding ceremony, followed up with their reception at the Sugar Wharf.

Rex Smeal park is such an iconic spot – postcard perfection with the row of coconut trees framing the ocean. It’s a magical option for your wedding ceremony, and if you have lots of guests, it is much more spacious than nearby Little Cove.

Only a 2 minute walk away from Rex Smeal park, the Sugar Wharf sits proudly on the end of the pier – one of the most classic and sought after reception venues in Port Douglas. One of the biggest drawcards is that it’s a totally blank canvas – so you can style away to your heart’s content.

We arrived at the Sugar Wharf before the guests were allowed access – meaning that Kirilyn and Jack had the chance to soak in the setup and details in private – and also get a few cool shots with themselves & the bridal party. Then, we headed down to the beach for a couple of extra photos, while the guests made their way into the reception.

The mix of indoor & outdoor spaces is so good at the Sugar Wharf – as the afternoon faded into sunset we all hung out on the deck, drinks and canapes in hand. Then as it got dark, it was time to move inside, and kick off the evening – with an incredible meal, beautiful speeches, super cute floral wedding cake, and some legit dancefloor action!

Just before we wrapped things up for the evening, we stole Kirilyn and Jack away for a cute night photo under the archway that framed their wedding reception – a perfect end to a stunning day.
