Kate and Harry met in Perth – just as Harry was planning to move to Cairns. He was working out how to tell this amazing girl he’d just met that he was leaving Perth … only to find out, not only was Kate originally from Cairns, she was also planning a move back there! Meant to be.

We were actually in Bali for 3 weeks before the wedding, and arrived back into Cairns on the Wednesday beforehand. With a lot of stress and media coverage about the impending Bali volcano eruption, and subsequent potential problems with flights – we were counting our lucky stars to be back on Aussie soil and ready to shoot. Grateful for a solid crew of other local Cairns photographers who had our back & were ready to step in at a moments notice, if we needed.

Their wedding was in Kate’s family church – St. Therese’s Catholic in Bentley Park. Afterwards, we headed out for a few cool photos nearby – before making our way into town for their reception at the Pullman.

After trekking our way into some canefields, we found a cool little forest grove that promised great photos and (more importantly!) shade from the hot Cairns sun. Little did we know, it also came complete with some thorns, brambles, and a nice little compliment of biting ants! Luckily – Kate, Harry, and their bridal party were total troopers – and the shots were all worth it!
