Dani & Michael traveled up from Townsville for their wedding in Port Douglas – and what an epic night it was!

The thing I noticed the most was capturing candid shots at the reception. Sometimes, even though I try to float around the tables and capture little candid moments… there just isn’t a huge amount of energy going down. This was most definitely NOT the case at Dani & Michael’s wedding – everywhere I looked, people were laughing, joking, shouting, dancing – and don’t even get me started on the dancefloor 🔥

They decided to do a ‘first look’ before the ceremony – just to meet up and spend a few moments with one another, and also to dress their beautiful little daughter Morgan. She was on point all day – sleeping when she needed to be asleep – and awake and happy for the few little windows we took photos together.

After the first look, the ceremony took place down on the beach (this is definitely my favourite ceremony option at the Pullman Port Douglas – the light on the beach is SO good) … and after a quick creative shoot it was back to join the party. I was happy that we ended up running early on the photo location shoot & cutting it 30 minutes shorter than in the original timeline… because it meant we got back in time for cheese. And there was so much cheese.

DJ Bart kicked the party off and the dancefloor was pumping all night – I loved that as the guests moved from the pool area into the enclosed dancefloor room, the staff were waiting with trays of cocktails – the hard part was what do you choose? Mojito or Espresso Martini?? Plus – inside the room was a little gelato cart – and if you’ve ever wondered whether it’s possible to take dancefloor photos with your camera in one hand, while eating ice cream with the other … the answer is yes. Yes it is.
