Charmaine & Shane braved one of the wettest days of the year for their wedding at Castaways in Mission Beach – it literally didn’t stop raining, even for just one minute, the entire day & night.

They were absolute champions however, and took it all in their stride. Charmaine even prepared for the weather by getting a pair of big white gumboots to add to the wedding shoe options!

The original plan was to do a twilight ceremony just after sunset – which meant doing a “first look” and the location photoshoot all before the ceremony.
We stuck with plan A and headed out into the rain with some umbrellas. A cute little first look in the bamboo gardens near the spa at Castaways was followed by a whirlwind trip out to the beach – where the rain decided to kick in extra heavy – destroying the little clear umbrella they were sheltering under and forcing us to retreat back inside to dry out.

The twilight ceremony still happened, but in the shelter of the marquee – with the tipi tucked in there too, and the guests seated in a cool circular arrangement all around them.

Then it was straight into the party – with some epic dancefloor moves, and a super funny garter removal where the best man slipped in & took Charmaine’s place … it took blindfolded Shane a few seconds to realize what was going on!

If it rains on your wedding day, the main thing is to just keep upbeat & smiling – and just trust that everything else will work out!
We still got some incredible photos, and Charmaine & Shane had a perfect day – regardless of what the weather threw at them.
